Windows Defender and Webroot.
Will they be a happy couple or will they be constantly fighting each other to see who's the best. I recently purchased a new HP computer with Windows 10 installed and just a few days ago I installed the Windows 10 Anniversary edition. I recall when initially purchasing my Webroot edition it was suggested ( and performed ) to un-install the Norton Anti-Virus prior to installing Webroot. It was explained that two separate Security Software's sometimes don't get along with each other. What say the Webroot Team?
Folder That wont Delete
Recently, I created a storage folder on my laptop, I cleaned it out, and now it won't delete. The thing that scares me is when I try to remove it says "This file is open in another program." I tried using elevated cmd, but I just got the same message. I checked Task Manager, no suspicious programs were running in the background and I scanned the computer, and it came up clean, so I'm out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I received a message that my computer was being attacked and I had to call Microsoft to get help with it. I could not get off the screen and the message said I should not shut down. I called the number and was successful on the third try. The person said he needed to access my computer. I said how did I know he wasn't accessing my info and he said it was a software problem, not a computer problem and so I allowed him access. I asked why webroot had not picked up the problem and said it was a campi. He then showed me the definition. He then said Microsoft could fix my problem and it would take about 2 hours for the technicians to fix it. I told him I would rather take it in myself. Was this a new kind of scam? Should I stop using my computer until it is fixed by someone? Please advise. Thank you.
Greetings to all those wiser than myself. I checked Firefox for any updates and it appeared that 'Shockwave Flash " should be updated as of yesterday. I tried to update it but was immediately warned by Webroot that it was not safe. I decided against the update. I recall at an earlier time, that Webroot claimed it unsafe so I guess thats still the case. I'm not a gamer nor do I watch a lot of videos...so it seems I have no need for the update.....or do I need it for something else affiliated to my internet use? As allways, your advise is appreciated.
Why does Webroot no longer show expire days in software only the status of active.
I don't mind logging in to find the info I need about my security software but why does the window within the software itself no longer show the days remaining for the subscription. Only the word Active appears where days remaing use to show?
Unable to install Webroot, no response from support ticket or phone line.
I purchased the Webroot SecureAnywhere online 6 days ago, but did not receive a keycode. It may be possible that I entered my email address incorrectly when purchasing.Within a few minutes I opened a support ticket and submitted a request 3 times, but no response. I called the Webroot support numbers in the US and also 2 other countries, and spent at least 45 minutes on hold, but the calls are not answered. I have tried the “redownload / get keycode” option on the website several times, but this does not work.I have made a purchase, but I can not install the product as I did not receive the keycode.I would appreciate if someone could assist.
Adobe Warning on [Cerber style] Ransomware
I gor this warning in my email inbox today. What is Webroot's response? Adobe issued an emergency update to its Adobe Flash Player software today after researchers discovered a vulnerability that was being exploited to deliver ransomware (variants of Cerber ransomware).
Greetings to all. Scanning for Malware used to take only 1-1/2 or 2 minutes. Recently though, the scan now stops at 74%. Maybe 10 seconds later it will go to 77% and stop. Quite a few seconds later ( like 15-20 ) it will continue on to 100% ,and then end. Scans are taking 4-1/2 minutes now. Its probably nothing to be concerned with, and Webroot is just taking its time to completely check everything. Just being curious, what say the experts ? Much obliged, Robert
my e-mail ?hacked with malware
I had signed into one of my Yahoo e-mail accounts with no issues and I was in my inbox and I reviewed what was in my inbox, I think I opened a few e-mails and read them from individuals or organizations I normally get e-mails from and trust, and everything was fine. I then noticed that there were 11 e-mails in my spam folder and I always delete the e-mails in the spam folder before I sign out of my Yahoo e-mail account. I clicked on the spam folder icon to go to my spam folder to, "check all" and, "delete all" of the e-mails in my spam folder. The screen did not take me to my spam folder, instead a red/orange webroot warning screen came up informing me that the next screen contained malware, and asked me what I wanted to do. I clicked on, "get me out of here" and the browser closed. I was puzzled because I was already in my Yahoo mail acct. and all I was doing was going from the inbox to the spam folder. I opened my browser (firefox) and resigned&nbs
Alternative WRData Folder Soloution
I have come across so many blogs, opinions, and so called solutions to WRData folder expansion problem. I started a search hoping to find a solution I could live with. The Problem/My issues? I have both limited space and ample space on my local Dell Windows 10 desktop PC. I have a 128 GB SSD drive which is essentially my main drive (that's the one with the limited space problem and it's my "C" drive.) I also have a couple of Internal SATA hard drives spinning at 7200RPMs which has a combined storage capacity of 8TBs! I though, geez wouldn't it be great if I could put my WRData folder on one of my SATA drives and make WSA play nice with this change. Then I would not care about the WRData problem. It could just blow up like a hot air balloon and I would not mind, but that is only if I could successfuly move my WRData folder and have it work succesfully with the WSA program with WRData on another drive. But please, not on my SSD drive “C” drive. It's only 128 GB SSD. By default the
Good morning all, wishing you all less burdens and brighter hope for the new year, I for one am extremely grateful for all the things I DO NOT have. I know Webroot is not intended for this, but I"m wondering, if I there is a way for webroot to remove a program that dosen't have a uninstall for it?? Problem being that Best Buy (at the store) had tried to install Trend antivirus when I first bought the "Beast" but it didn't install right, so I had purchased Webroot. Now all the files from Trend are still on the "Beast", and no uninstall option. and wonderful Geek Squad keeps ignoring it when I ask them about it. That being said, could I use webroot to remove it if I use the manual threat removal tool? since it removes the registry etc. files
After installing MacOS Sierra, Webroot constantly crashes.
I installed MacOS Sierra on my iMac. Now Webroot constantly crashes ... to the point that it's unusable. I had the latest version of Webroot installed. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem short of going through the tedious process of rolling back Sierra to El Capitan ... something I really don't want to do.
