New Virus - Music Playing in Background
First, had all types of music playing in the back ground. I checked the program manger and no programs are running in the background. Then my computer crashed and wouldn't power back up. But continued to cycle through uploading windows. I took it to Best Buy GeekSquad. They ran a scan and discovered I had a rootkit virus. They cleaned it. My laptop worked just fine. Now the music is back; however, I performed a webroot scan and it found no threats. My laptop powered down again.. Is anyone else out there experiencing this?
Google Chrome help
The problem started 4 days ago. I was using Chrome then all of a sudden nothing would load. I exited out and after that I couldn't even open Chrome. After trying different things I turned off Webroot and it worked fine. Turn on Webroot and the same problems. So I tried adding Chrome to the add/block files and I made sure it was on the protect list in Webroot. I have it to the point where I can now open Chrome but still nothing will load. Any ideas? I'm running Win 7.
Two licenses, no cummulative time.
Hello, everyone. I bought another license. Mine has 42 days left, so I bought a new one. When I enter the new one, it subsitutes the old one, but does not accumulate the days. I wanted to add 365 days to it, and not have to licenses running. Any help? Thanks a lot.
Trouble with product
I bought a Macbook Pro (Retina 15") from Best Buy at the end of February 2016 and Best Buy installed Webroot SecureAnywhere. I am using El Capitan 10.11.6. and the Safari browser. I set Webroot up with the secure pw feature. Sometime in April, I began to have a keyboard issue when filling in forms downloaded from the Internet -- though I typed at normal speed, the letters appeared with about a 2 second gap between each one of them. Working with Apple Care, all we could do to resolve the problem was turn Webroot off. Weeks later, suddenly Webroot, Firefox, the Office for Mac applications and iTunes vanished from the computer when I was llying in bed one evening reading the news at google.com/news, my default web page. All that I saw was the icons in my Dock with "questionmarks" in them. After extensive work with Apple to try to resolve issues, including multiple reinstallations of the OS, Apple gave up and replaced th
is webroot slowing down photoshop?
Hello Community, Just installed Webroot Plus - very happy...however ... is there a possibility that it scans/checks installed applications, e.g. photoshop? I noticed images open slower than usual. Do I have to exclude installed programs from being checked? Thanks in advance
I am having trouble with my internet explorer going off and on a lot, with an error box that pops up say "Internet explorer has stopped working, checking for a solution." I can be in the middle of doing something and it will flash off and on. Sometimes not even coming back on. I'm wondering if I may have a virus that has surpassed my Webroot, and what I need to do to find out about htis problem.
Some questions from a new user of Internet security plus.
Hi, I have had Webroot for a few weeks, and am quite impressed having had to abandon my former IS package after many years when the latest version became bloated with a load of non-essential features and pop up reminders of their other products. It's nice to have something so slim:D With Webroot being different to other Internet Security packages I have tried recently, with scans lasting a few minutes instead of a few hours etc I was a bit sceptical at first, but my faith in Webroot is increasing daily, especially after it has rid me of a few pua's and blocked a software download. However I was rather surprised that Webroot warned me that Internet explorer is trying to connect to the internet and is not trusted, when I ran it ! My questions are: 1) Do files that are quarantined stay in quarantine until I delete them, or are they deleted after a certain period of time ? 2) Is there a firewall log, as I do not seem to be able to find one ? 3)
Malware on peer 2 peer
I have read on a few articles by tiversa and the ftc about issues with malware on peer 2 peer networks. I know malware is lurking on these networks. But there is a particular malware that concerns me. There is this malware that when you download a song it could be embedded that will change your settings in the p2p share folder. Making your computer personal files available in the p2p share folder making them all available to the whole world. Is this likely to happen. I talked to a tech and they said it was just an experiment and it didn't work very well.

I hate the way Best Buy does the renewal
I mean I like that you get what you pay for. (Norton used to urge you to renew early and then in the fine print it would say that you forfeited any remaining days you had on the old subscription. Best Buy has never done that.) But... And it's a big BUT!!! About a month ago I get an email saying that my subscription would automatically renew with the credit card they had on file and there was no action required on my part. For most of the month, the Webroot panel has been yellow and every day I am urged to renew. Three days ago, the panel turns red and there is a red excamation. I even called Best Buy to make sure that I didn't need to push the renew button and enter my info. But they said no. Today I turn on my pc and Webroot says it is expired and all shields are off. So I call Best Buy again and they say it's OK. It shows that I am still active. (But not on my end.) She says that it is scheduled to renew at midnight on the 29th. She also conf
Password manager not working
I used the trial version. No problems. I used passwordmanager, no problems. Nice. Then I paid for subscription a month ago. Filled in the new key. Then Passwordmanager is no more usable. The existing passwords were removed by webroot.. When I try to login via the icon in the webbrowser for using passwordmanager, they say my subscription is expired. I send many emails to webroot but they refuse to react. Strange that problems start after paying? And then communicationstopped also? Customerkindness. Anybody any idea how to get where I paid for?
brother repaired computer, put essentials on it
My brother helped me out by getting a small computer to run for me after we went through several outages, he insisted on putting Microsoft essentials on it, if I understood him correctly, and he claims I can't put another virus protection on at the same time. Can someone steer me on this one, I paid for I think 5 years of Webroot and want to put webroot back on that computer?
I've just had a somewhat frustrating encounter with Support. First off, the guy didn't know what Process Explorer is. Secondly, he told me it shouldn't be on my Desktop. Thirdly, he said it should already be "in Windows folder where the explorer is running." He then asked me why I "downloaded those exe from different places?" It was the last message that worried me the most:
Since those process explorer program will directly related with the process of the computer, and get information of the computer all the time, Webroot will monitor such applications so it such program can't mess up with the computer processes. This doesn't mean bad at all. Webroot Secure is doing what it suppose to do and nothing to worry about.
To me, this sounds like someone that doesn't have a very good grasp on the English language, which made me wonder whether Support Tickets are outsourced. Are they? It's frustrating to go back and forth over such a simple thing. To be
Password Manager - Unkown Email Address Error
After reading through all the posts in this forum I wasn't able to address the issue as described on the subject. When I log in on the Webroot toolbar, I get the error "Uknown Email Address". Logging on to the Webroot Account via the webpage has no issues using the same account credentials. I tried running the Toolbar Fix utility which I saw from a separate topic but it never solved the issue. All the posts related to this topic ends with the moderator asking for a Private Message. Some topics indicated that they were solved after sending a PM but there was no solution presented. I need help with this issue because this feature (Password Manager) is the main reason why I tried Webroot.
