Hi Everyone –

For all of you acronym junkies, I’m pleased to announce that WWSS is now WSAWSS!
Now that I’ve got your attention, let me explain a name change to one of our bedrock products, Webroot Web Security Service. This offering uses best-of-breed technology to stop malware in the cloud before it can enter customers’ networks or infect mobile devices. Like most Webroot products, it’s easy to install and reduces network cost and complexity. With this change comes some user-requested improvements to Web Security Service, including a link to the Webroot Business Community on the dashboard as part of the solution.

This week we began rolling out the improved product with a new name -- Webroot SecureAnywhere Web Security Service.  We’re making the change for three reasons:
  • The name Webroot SecureAnywhere  highlights a key differentiator between Webroot and its competitors,
  • It’s aligned with our other recent product names, and
  •  It completes our consistency of the brand throughout all Webroot dashboards and products.
You can now see the new Webroot SecureAnywhere Web Security Service name in all its glory on our website. View it here.
Oh, and try to avoid using the acronym (see below)

Thanks Dunk!

Speaking of those new features, here are the official release notes for this latest build of Webroot SecureAnywhere Web Security Service:

New in this 4.3.0 Release

Product Name Change:
This product has been renamed to Webroot SecureAnywhere Web Security Service. This change aligns Web Security Service under the Webroot SecureAnywhere family of products along with Webroot SecureAnywhere Business - Endpoint Protection and Webroot SecureAnywhere Business – Mobile Protection, a complementary set of security technologies for the enterprise.

Update to Branding in Management Portal
The look-and-feel of the product has been updated with new logo, favicon and color scheme to bring the product up to standards with the Webroot and SecureAnywhere brands. This is a cosmetic change that has no impact on product functionality.

Link to Webroot Community in Management Portal
A link to the Webroot Community has been added to the footer of the Management Portal to increase Community interaction and provide administrators with resources that they may otherwise not realize are available to them. The Webroot Community provides a forum for security news, customer reviews, product discussions and education, feature requests, and much more.

Removal of Email Security Configuraiton from Management Portal
Since the Email Security Service has been discontinued, references to it in the Web Security Service Management Portal have been removed. This includes the removal of the “Email Service” tab from the main navigation and the “Email Service URLs” field from the user’s profile “General Information” page.

Upcoming Releases

Along with the changes above, we are planning some major enhancements to the Webroot SecureAnywhere Web Security Service this year, so look forward to receiving more of these release updates in the near future.
