Product Update: DNS Group Policy & Windows Agent

Over the next several weeks, we will be updating our Windows-based agent as well as our DNS Protection service.

The DNS Protection service will be enhanced with group-based policy management and exportable CSV reports.  We will be extending the flexibility of policy management with ability to apply custom policies for Groups, Sites, individual devices, and/or IP.  We will retain the ability to configure DNS policies globally.

We are additionally updating the console so you can initiate trials for any product from within the Global Site Manager console.  You can learn more by reading the detailed Product Bulletin.

We'll be hosting a Product Update Webinar to talk through the GSM console updates for DNS Protection.  Click here to register for the day and time that works best for you.

In parallel, we will be updating Windows-based agent for Webroot SecureAnywhere Endpoint Protection over the next 2-3 weeks.  We will be addressing a variety of bug fixes and improvements for the agent, as well as Web Threat Shield.  Please click here to read the Product Bulletin about the Windows Agent Updates.

As usual, no action is needed on your behalf, with agent updates occuring silently in the background.

By simply downloading this multi-functioning phishing kit and following the straightforward installation instructions, a threat actor is able to launch a phishing campaign, that collects the personal and financial information of unsuspecting consumers, very quickly.

Most dangerous attack techniques, and what’s coming next

Experts from SANS presented the five most dangerous new cyber attack techniques in their annual RSA Conference 2018 keynote session in San Francisco, and shared their views on how they work, how they can be stopped or at least slowed, and how businesses and consumers can prepare.

The five threats outlined are:

1. Repositories and cloud storage data leakage
2. Big Data analytics, de-anonymization, and correlation
3. Attackers monetize compromised systems using crypto coin miners
4. Recognition of hardware flaws
5. More malware and attacks disrupting ICS and utilities instead of seeking profit.
