Hackers urge users not to update if they want to run unsigned code.

It's been a little over two weeks since a group of hackers revealed the first software-based method for running unsigned homebrew code (but not pirated software) on the 3DS (causing a run on used copies of key game Cubic Ninja in the process). Today, Nintendo threw a wrench in that method, with the release of 3DS firmware version 9.3.0-21.
 
As portable hacking site Wololo lays out (and hacker Smealum confirms via Twitter) the new firmware disables one of the three key exploits that the homebrew method known as Ninjhax currently uses to run homebrew software on the 3DS. As Smealum explained to me on Twitter, "Essentially we can still run unsigned code on the 3DS, but not with all the bells and whistles we used to have. So unfortunately ninjhax in its current shape won't work, but that doesn't mean we're locked out of the system."
