How do I remove the Mcafee system that was running prior to my switching to Webroot?

At the time I bought my HP computer it came with a temporary Mcafee program running, I also bought a WEBROOT antivirus program that I installed and have been running fulltime.  I keep getting notices from McAfee that its subscription has expired, also sometimes a notice will say it blocked some suspicious something.  How do I get rid of McAfee from my computer without downloading a 3rd party removal software?  And if I have to download an additional removal program which one is the best?  How come WEBROOT cannot remove the McAfee program?  Sounds like WEBROOT is not the program I should be using and I should just go with the pro's from Dover.

Hello catcanyon,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Please look here for the McCafee removal tool and other  instructions. https://community.webroot.com/t5/Techie-KB/3rd-Party-Software-Removal-Tools/ta-p/204388

Webroot is not a software uninstaller. If you PUAs then look here for Webroot stance on this. https://community.webroot.com/t5/Techie-KB/How-to-Remove-Potentially-Unwanted-Applications/ta-p/40744

Webroot IMO is the best out there. Have a look at this thread https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Complete/Window-s-Firewall-Turnon-or-Off/m-p/236872#M15795

Then here is a video of What Happens if Webroot Misses Virus.

Also I might mention that Webroot has free technical Support with a Webroot subscription. Where as no other AntiVirus has.

Hope this helps?

Hi catcanyon

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If I may just comment here in addition to what Sherry has posted...I am not sure why you believe that WSA should being able to remove another security app given that it, in itselfm=, is a security app, like McAfee.

I should point out that in many cases McAfee can be simply uninstalled from the Add Remove Program Control Panel applet, just like any other PC app...the use of the Removal Tool is only predicated in circumstances where the standard uninstall has been tried and for some reason or another it has not worked properly.

Hope that helps further?

Regards, Baldrick
