VentureBeat has released an article discussing first-hand from one of the first developers of Symantec how traditional anti-virus technology is becoming outdated and somewhat useless for today's malware landscape:

The article highlights that the evolution of AV solution is based on (and lags behind) the evolution of malware and notes that behavioral based approaches are necessary in the current malware landscape, something Webroot has been doing for 2 years already. Just reinforcing the fact that Webroot SecureAnywhere is in fact a "best-of-breed" solution.
