Police love that naive, completely misplaced trust in the supposed anonymity of social media postings.
In fact, it was a long trail of quite helpful Facebook postings about crimes that lead New York City police to what authorities are calling "the largest gang takedown in New York City's history".

On the one hand, it is quite funny that street smarts but facebook stupidity led to this.  WELL DONE!

On the other hand.... one does wonder why it would have taken 4 years in order do accomplish this.

Oh, come on David, you cannot be serious...if they used FB to solve the crimes and managed to do it so much quicker they would be out of a job or the Mayor would impose force reduction cuts...it is in their interests (perhaps) to take more time...;)

Ah... I see what you mean... and you are quite correct.  That is a HUGE problem of doing a job efficiently: efficient work makes less man hours required for the same results.  Less man hours required for the desired results = fewer employees needed to achieve those results.

Doing the job RIGHT the first time, as quickly and efficiently as can be done, therefor puts oneself out of a job.  (I will have to remember that......)

And really... in some ways.. totally sad but true LOL.
