We need a little more iinformation if we are to provide som assistance here. Would you be able to advise as to exactly when WSA is 'saying' that it needs updates, i.e., does the message just appear when you boot up or when you take a specific option?
Also, could you provide the exact wording/formatting of the message as that may give us a clue as to the source/reson for it appearing.
In general terms WSA (i) does not need signature or definition updates that other more traditional AVs/ISs require as all definitions are held in the Cloud, (ii) any program updates are generally pushed to the user and usually very, very silently...such one generally does not know they have occured...;)...hence all the questions above...as messages about updates are relatively rare.
