2014 alone saw more new malware variants than previous years combined. This has become a real threat to SMBs who do not have the proper solutions in place. As the MSP, it’s your job to stay educated and up to date on any and all threats. A job that can be cumbersome in this rapidly changing space. Datto has partnered with Webroot, who has performed extensive research in this area. Their experts take a deeper look into malware data encountered by our collective threat intelligence platform, analyzing billions of IPs, URLs, phishing statistics, file reputation scores, and malicious Android™ mobile apps for distinguishing trends. In this webinar, we’ll discuss their findings and what they indicate for the future. Join our panel of experts from Datto and Webroot for insight into today's threat landscape and how the power of collective threat intelligence can help businesses stay ahead. Joint MSP Partner, Gene Hechler, President of Silverado Technologies will tie i

Ransomware is a true plague for today’s industry. Unfortunately this type of cybercrime seems to pay off: it has been said that the creators of the notorious CryptoLocker virus approximately earned $30 million. This financial aspect plus the recently leaked CryptoLocker source code could explain increasingly sophisticated ransomware arising on a regular basis. To give partners a better understanding of this subject Contec B.V. has set up an exclusive ransomware webinar on April 29th and May 13th. By executing a LIVE CryptoLocker infection, an IT security consultant will demonstrate: - How the virus proceeds after infection - How an organization can quickly determine the source in case of an infection - What steps are advisable after an infection There is a limited number of places available, so register quickly! We've got a few guys from the threat research team who'll be doing an Ask Me Anything event in the sysadmin subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin Basically it's a live event where people post questions and we answer them. Viruses, trojans, and other forms of malware were destructive enough when they hit our computers through spam or compromised websites. Now, though, hackers are using social engineering to deliver malware through sophisticated spear phishing and watercooler schemes and using similar techniques to steal data and compromise supposedly secure systems. Users become the weak link in the security chain with these sorts of attacks, unintentionally opening the door for hackers. All of this, as well as new threat vectors and customizable malware, makes for an especially dangerous threat landscape. The Channel Company is proud to present “Demystifying Today’s Threat Landscape”, a live ChannelCast in which you will

Hear about the current state of malware and see breakdown of current threats
Learn about the influence of social engineering on infections
Discover how to address the rapidly evolving threat landscape with Webroot and LabTech.
Don’t miss “Demys

Richard and I were at SpiceWorld in Austin, TX last week. It was a lot of fun, but also very exhausting :) Our booth involved everyone building a Lego city collaboratively, and it turned out smashingly. Afterwards some SpiceHeads came to visit us in Colorado so I took them to Webroot HQ, and saw the sights of Boulder and Denver. After more than a solid week of partying, I'm ready to rest up for quite some time! Here's Scott Alan Miller, famous SpiceHead, getting icewater poured on him to cool off at the welcome party: When we got back to Colorado, Grey and I took the British visitors Huw, Ivan and Simon clay shooting. We managed to "acquire" a golf ball from the SpiceWorld Unofficial Putt-Putt Golf Tournament, and tried to destroy it: Here's me shooting the 12-gauge shotgun, which had quite a kick to it, and
