This is not a big deal but it has piqued my curiosity. One thing that is always mentioned when listing the advantages of WSA over traditional AV products is that WSA takes up less than 1 MB of space on the hard drive, if you check in program files that seems to be the case, but is WSA creating other files and folders in other areas of the disk that are a bit larger than that? The reason I ask is that the uninstaller program I use is reporting that the actual size of WSA is well over 17 MB, while that is still incredibly small compared to traditional AV programs, it is substantially larger than 1 MB. So does WSA only install files in program files, or does it also install larger files and folders in other areas on the disk? Note: The date in the screenshot is the installation date. Does the community have any kind of feedback on the results from The Safe Mac's Antivirus testing and why Webroot SecureAnywhere scored so low? I know WebRoot uses a radically different technique for detecting malware, but i'm suprised that it only detected 21%/29% of the threats in the test. I entered a new Keycode for a one year subscription for SecureAnywhere under My Account on my computer. The subscripton had expired two days earlier. Upon entering the new code, the program runs perfectly only it says under My Status that my subscription is Not Activated. It also will not count down the days on my subscription, it says 365 days left and is stuck on it. I tried to get support to fix this issue, but they told me the software came from Best Buy and Best Buy has to activate the code. I had purchased the software through a Seller on Ebay for SecureAnywhere with CD in a factory sealed box. After spending an hour on the phone with one department after another from Best Buy, I was told they can't do anything on their end to activate the keycode since it was not scanned at checkout. The keycode is automatically activated only when scanned at checkout. Bottom line, the software runs fine, there seems to be no expiration and yet Webroot does not have my copy i
I've just downloaded Freemake Video Converter which has also installed a Tune-up Utilities 2013 prog. It has around 30 different 'power tools' to it including a Browser Cleaner, Disc Cleaner, Programme De-activator, 1-Click Maintenance etc. Would it be OK to use these or will they interact badly with the SA Antivirus (I've had loads of probs since it was installed and now I'm even more nervous!)
Is there any way to disable the web threat shield without changing the systray icon? I tried removing the check marks but I am still getting warnings and false positives. If I turn off the web threat shield my WSA systray icon changes from green to an ugly gray and red, which would seem to indicate that I am no longer protected, even though I know I am. Is there any way around this? If not this issue should be addressed in a future update of WSA.
I have used PrevX for almost 5 years with not a single complaint, and my computers have always remained very fast in startup, and in browsing. I have always has PrevX on my 2 primary pcs until the recent upgrade to webroot, and since I just purchased two more pcs I've added webroot to them as well. I now have Webroot on a total of 3 desktop pcs, and 1 laptop. I'm running Windows 7 HP on 2 desktops, Windows XP Pro SP3 on the last desktop, and the laptop is new with W7 Starter installed. I'm using the same keycode on 2 desktops, and a different keycode on the remaining pc and laptop. Since upgrading from PrevX to Webroot on my primary pcs I've noticed a that all 4 computers are VERY slow to startup. Once the desktop loads all icons, these icons remain inactive for around 1-2 minutes on each pc. At first I thought it was just on my own computer, until today when I accessed all 4 pcs, and am now seeing that all 4 of them have this same problem. It's as if clickign the ic

Hi, I started a ticket with Malwarebytes (stupid me forgot to check here first). They have me running Combofix which requires my AV to be shut down. WRA doesn't seem to shut down. How can I go about doing so. And I cannot get Combofix to shut down either (I tried X-ing out but it pushed on ahead stating it will go ahead and run "at my own risk!" I'd started the ticket there because my computer has been running sluggish but MBAM and WRA don't detect anything. I've worked with tech support on a previous computer and went there first (again, stupid me, forgetting the tech support here). They walked me through several steps and now we're looking at ComboFix. When I open Web Console, I notice that an infection popped up yesterday LPPLUGIN.DLL with W32.InfoStealer.Zeus (probably during this process). Now when I click on support from my computer, I get sent to a blank browser page. Help. If I try to open a support ticket, I'm asked for e-mail address
I was checking my computer security and realized Webroot wasn't on. When I attempted to turn it on I received the following message: "Security Center did not trust this program because its identity can't be verified." Webroot won't turn on. I am not a computer expert so any suggestions will need to be explained fully. I am runnning Vista with Webroot Anti-virus I purchased back in Feb 2013. Thanks for any assistance! Bob
Hey guys, Just an updade on install of upgrade... I followed the suggestion of just adding the serial number and it worked great on my laptop... However when I went to manage my account on line I only saw "Mom's PC" and not "USERPC" as I did before. So I went to the desktop.. tried to update the new serial there the same way and it imediately rebooted the system. Booted back up and tried again, was given a message saying that Webroot could not access the internet even though my browser was connecting. I then went to control panel - add remove programs and when trying to uninstall it sent me to a page asking me to leave a note explaining why I wanted to uninstall the program so I did. Then gave me a message saying that "Webroot could not be un-installed because it may not have been installed in the fist place"... wierd huh??? ok... so I rebooted and inserted the purchased cd and ran setup. It asked me for the serial and now it has accepted it a
Hello again everyone, I'm sure by now you all are wishing I would shut up :o I just purchased a full version of your WR Antivirus 2013 and got a great price of $20.00 for 3 devices by the way :) My question is this... If I have installed the 14 day free trial about 3 days ago, should I un-install that free trial before installing the purchased version or will it just over write the trial software? Any tips or tricks you might know of would be appreciated. I know this sounds like a dumb question but you guys are so efficient with these blogs I would be an idiot not to ask first. Thanks in advance for the suggestions and I will check my responses after I return from walking the dogs at the park today 100 degrees here at 7pm :@
I recently took my laptop in for it's yearly healthcheck, would anyone know why the report I got back shows that it did not detect any AntiVirus on the system although Webroot shows it is Active and I am protected? Have I failed to do something apart from entering the new keycode? Linda
OK I need to wipe and reinstall my operating system to fix an issue and the webroot that I have the code is good for 3 activations and two have already been used, when I reinstall webroot will that activation use up my third one? is there a way to prevent that because I need to save it for a third computer im getting
Win 7 Pro 64 Webroot 126.96.36.199 Having issues with updates on this laptop since January. We are making progress as this time "Scan with Webroot" still works! Checking for updates returns a response stating "You are currently using the newest SecureAnywhere software. With this version, SecureAnywhere automatically updates the software and no longer downloads threat definitions. Threat protection is now performed "in the cloud" and is always up-to-date." Despite the response it appears 188.8.131.52 is not the most current version as two other systems are reportedly running WSA version 184.108.40.206. A case was opened on June 28 with the initial response of uninstall/reinstall. Since this system has not successfully been updated without manual intervention in 2013 I am trying to avoid manual installs and hoping for a more permanent solution. With Webroot's help, the last update was "successfully" reinstalled. However, there are two versions of w
What specific technical guidance does Webroot provide for use of Sandboxie 4 and WSA together? A previous thread mentioned Webroot would need to investigate the structural differences in the new version of Sandboxie and see how that interacted with WSA. The first version of Sandboxie 4 stable was released on June 17th.
What are the reasons that influenced you the most to make you choose Webroot considering how many Cyber Security Products there are to choose from these days? Also do you like using WSA by itself, or do you like using it with other Security Products? If you are using WSA with other Security Products then which products do you prefer to use with WSA to make up your Layered Security Setup? Also, how long have you been using Prevx / WSA?
Go mornig, I haven't been here in a while but I have an issue. My wife's laptop took a dump the other day so we purchused a used one because she only surfs the net and plays bingo. I installed webroot on the computer and everything is fine except that everytime it boots it puts a new icon on the desktop. Is there any way I can stop this from happening? Thanks alot.
How do I turn off WSA completely so that I can use it "On Demand"? I've tried all day to solve this myself and must admit defeat. Could someone help me so that I don't have to uninstall WSA please? Every time I disable it, it comes back on. I get the same message from somewhere informing me that the WSA "console" is going to overrule me. It's a fantastic program and I love it as much as I did Prevx but it is slowing down my 'puter - I have to admit that. So I want to totally and permanently turn it off and use it "On Demand". Please, how do I do that? Since I am not technically inclined, I will need Instructions For Idiots or Directions For Dummies. Either one will do. Thank you in advance, Greta
There's talk at Wilder's Security Forum of a new Ransomeware which is spreading by P2P networks. This Ransomeware is able to flash your bios, but it is not known at this time the changes it is making to the bios. One user which has already fallen victim to this malware says replacing your hard drive will not remove the threat. Zfactor at Wilders is trying to obatain a sample which compromised a friends computer. The victim says he has scanned his computer with norton, eset, avira, avast, dr web, bitdefender, webroot, gdata, fsecure, panda, avg, emsisoft, vipre, mcafee, comodo, ikarus, kaspersky, trend, fortinet among others , and none of them have detected the threat. The victim of this threat says he still has not been able to remove the threat even after replacing the hard drive. He says he is going to replace the memory next which I myself do not think will help from the sound of it. The Ransomewear has him locked out of the bios. I think as we find out

On the security console I see that I have numerous deactivated PC`s. This is only because, during each reinstall of Windows OS - and I`ve had to do a lot lately due to hardware issues etc, I use a different PC name. So they have sort of accumulated over time. Any way of deleting them? Kind Regards George
