license transfer to new PC
How do I transfer an existing license to a new PC (I assume for WEBRoot SecureAnywher AV - since there's nothing else listed in the product name thats installed on the PC) ? I'm helping a friend who's laptop has sort of died (the screen failed; I'm using a monitor to work on it). She has a new laptop to which I am transferring info. I've not previously used WEBRoot and have not been successful in finding any instructions on how to install WEBRoot on the new laptop without having to purchase a separate license. Even some process to get a free temporary license would be good. Finally, I assume the license she has is for only one PC, but I can't figure that out either. Jim
Website blocked, how can we fix this ?
Hi, one of your customers told me that our website, http://www.sur-la-toile.com was blocked by Webroot® SecureAnywhere. It is a french portal about science and technology, with a blog and a forum. About 2M visitors monthly. Can you please tell us where the problem comes from, if there is a real security issue we can fix, or check if it might be a false positive ? Thanks a lot. Benoit Fries
Possible false positives?
After an un-attended scan, ver# 184.108.40.206 on Windows XP Pro SP3, detected "c:program fileswinrarwinrar v3.41 final trial to full by great elmo!!.exe" and a subsequent scan found "c:windowssystem32cmdlineext03.dll". First file was cleaned but the second I searched and suspect this may be a false positive. I removed the winrar exe positive as I never use it anyway, but still suspect a false positive. Malwarebytes and AVG have not tugged at these files ever. Just finished scans with these other two protectors came up clean, zero infections or malware. Any conformation or clarification is appreciated.
Identity shield not functioning/padlock missing
Hi all, First post in this forum, firstly I would like to start by saying that IMHO WSA is in the top tier of security solutions right now, keep it up guys. Ok secondly...I am having a reoccurring issue with the ID shield, After the 220.127.116.11 update I had a corrupted install so reinstalled WSA and noticed no padlock, after visiting this forum and following a couple of similar threads I installed and ran the Zemana keylogger test which I failed. I noticed the ID shield settings where all turned off (from a fresh install), I tried to turn settings up but they wouldn't stick, I resolved this by resetting to defaults then turning all settings up to Max... result visible padlock and Zemana pass :D all's well until I noticed a few days later no padlock, I retested with Zemana and failed, so reset to default and cranked settings up, again padlock returned and passed Zemena. Ok this is where issue becomes a problem, now I have no padlock and consistently failing the Zemana test, I have tried re
New here, need answer to online download question before I purchase please.
I do not need the back up cd for an extra $9. I can make my own? Also it kind of makes it sound like you only get to download the product you purchase once? I can download the product as many times as I need to once I have purchased it can't I? I am looking forward to purchasing webroot secure complete 2013 as soon as I get answers to these questions. Thanks! Matt
New User - Problem with adding second computer and Support
To trust or not to trust - Foxit Reader
Greetings - I updated my Foxit Reader from Version 5.3.1.0606 to Version 5.4.2.0901. The old version ran lightning fast (1-2 seconds to load a pdf from my documents). The new version takes over a minute to load a pdf from my documents. The new version also takes over a minute to close Foxit Reader. I noticed in my "Control Actice Processes" that Foxit Reader is listed as "Monitor" for the new version of Foxit Reader. I set the Active Process to "Allow" and the new version of Foxit Reader now opens as fast as the old version. For Foxit Reader, should I leave the setting at "Allow"? From reading my Computer trade journals, there can be threats embedded within pdf's. Could this be the reason why Secureanywhere has a setting of "Monitor" for Foxit Reader? If so, is there a way to set Secureanywhere to "Allow" if a pdf has been opened from "my documents" before, and to "Monitor" if it is a pdf from a
Webroot is blocking grc.com
Hello, My webroot keps blocking access to grc.com which is a very well known and popular website for computer security, so I'm really not sure what could be wrong and I'm assuming it's just a false positive with webroot maybe detecting some of the software as malware, but I'd like to make sure. Whenever I visit I'm just giving a blank white page with tabs disappearing and everything and the browser seems to lock up, I'm assuming this is just a conflict with noscript or something, cause I didn't see it was webroot blocking it until I checked the scan log. I checked pretty much every site checking website to make sure there was nothing wrong and they all showed it was fine, even brightcloud.
Why did my Webroot re-install itself?
I just booted up my computer and, upon typing my Windows password and loading to my desktop, was greeted by a couple of pop-ups from Webroot requesting authorization for startup programs that I had already authorized a couple of months ago. I got suspicious and checked my Control Panel, and noticed that Webroot now shows itself as having just been installed yesterday. Is this... normal? Should I be concerned?
Ok so I don't know how it happned(I think our computer is infected) but it's ALMOST like webroot uninsalled itself. I mean I can't access to it and when I searched webroot on my computer it showed 2 iconless "shorcuts" one saying uninstall webroot and another saying delet the shorcut, can you guys help?
Sophos found "troj-Psyme-DT" but Webroot didn't????
So I was doing a tune up on a PC and I was told it had some viruses on it and it was very laggy. I installed free Sophos Virus Removal Tool just to see what was going on before I installed Webroot in case there was stuff that the free tool couldn't remove. I did the scan, and sure enough it had like 11 assorted trojans and malware. It took it all off but one. It was labeled "troj-Psyme-DT" so I installed Webroot, but it found NOTHING. I scanned with both of them like 3 times and both had the same result. So I found where exactly the trojan was located; in a folder on Symantec Antivirus that I just recently uninstalled. (Ironic huh?) Can I just delete the folder C:Program FilesSymantec Antivirus since I no longer have the program to get rid of the trojan? Also, the PC its on has Windows XP with service pack 3 if that helps. Thanks!
How to Set WSA AV To Run With MSE
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium SP1 I have WSA AV running along side of MSE with no issues, but I want to make sure everything is set up properly. I excluded the Webroot folder and WRSA.exe in MSE, and in WSA, I turned the self protection to minimum. Are there any other changes I should make? Thanks in advance!
How can I cripple Web Threat Shield?
Here is the issue. I do not need the Web Threat Shield but I also do not want to disable it becuase that means I continuesly receive a message that I do not have full protection. If I were to leave Web Threat Shield toggle active but untick it's 4 functions, would that basically be the same as disabling it fully? If not, can you please tell me which parts of Web Threat Shield are active even after disabling it's 4 features in the change settings. Thank you :)
Multiple issues with Backup
Thus far filing tickets hasn't been very helpful (sorry Webroot, no offense) so I'm posting here as well. Hopefully a user has had the same issues and can give me some advice!!! 1) The upload is ridiculously slow. I watched and it was roughly 100kbps. This DOES NOT have anything to do with my connection. I have a 35mb down/35mb up internet connection (fiber optic) 2) There is no way to cancel a backup (to Web Archive) that's currently in progress. I had to shut down Webroot itself. 3) I set up sync folders (instead of a one-time Web Archive) and nothing happened.
Unknown Problem... Help!!!
Hi, For a year and a half now, I can click on one to three websites...then I get a light blue screen that will not allow me to go any further. I then have to click out of AOL or Internet Explorer (It doesn't matter what search engine I'm using) and restart my internet connection. On some channels like YouTube, I can stay on as long as I don't switch websites. I've run every single test in my HP Computer in addition to the basic Clearing History and Defragmenting. I've used every single program in System Mechanic and Optimized my computer with every single advantage that my Webroot Secure Anywhere Complete has to offer... Yet the problem still exists! I've got a AMD Athlon II x 4 processor... No problems with hard drive corruption...No known viruses...No RAM problems to be found... It's driving me nuts! Anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Dave at :) **Dave, I removed your email address from the post.&n
So I purchased Webroot with my laptop last year, and only recently renewed via the client (unfortunately I paid $39 and purchased the additional year for another $19, wish I had checked the website first). Anyhow, I installed the new version, and ran a full scan hoping Webroot would locate some nasty adware that I had somehow picked up when I recently installed Firefox. It did locate an adware .exe, and I removed that, but the other adware was still there. So I did a system restore, which I should have tried in the first place. System restore worked and the adware is gone. Unfortunately it screwed up Webroot to the point that I could not even uninstall it. The FAQ said to try and open the client, but I cannot even open the client. Is there someway I can download a the client and install using my keycode? And, no, I did not pay the extra $10 for the back-up disk (I just pad $60+ for the software). Help!
Old Webroot vs. WSA? A friendlier, brisker, safer take on internet security.
Here at Webroot, we see so many customers (and potential customers) ask “what’s the difference between Webroot SecureAnywhere and the older Webroot products?” The short answer is a winning combination of compatibility, unmatched speed, efficiency, and protection. The longer answer is this: Internet Security Trendsetting Unlike sports, there is no such thing as the “seasoned veteran” when it comes technology, and terms like “classic” and “old school” typically mean your product is outdated and slow. In fact, the only way veterans survive in the tech world is if they have a quality product that is constantly being updated (if not reinvented) with the newest technology. One of the few exceptions has been the internet security industry as a whole. For far too long, internet security companies have been playing it safe, reluctantly avoiding to stay current with the ever-evolving technological trends. Needless to say, every internet security software company (including Webroot
Vista Crashes after SMBR.1 removal.
I've been having virus trouble for a week now. I origonally had Norton running and after my 13 year old son had his friend come over to stay a couple days my computer started acting kinda wierd. I would hear ocasionally music playing in the background or a commercial ad like I was listening to the radio. Then it would stop for a few minutes or cut in and out. I noticed my bandwidth on my DSL modem was being used even when I don't have any programs open. So I started looking for other virus programs to scan my computer to figure this out. I've tried PC Tools Spyware Doctor and found a couple virus's. But the bandwith was still being used without my consent. And ocassionally I would still hear commercial ads in the background. I also tried AVG and Mcaffe without much luck. So I did a search for Top Rated Virus software and came across WEBROOT. I had to install it while in safe mode as I couldn't get anything to install while in normal mode. After downloading the trial version
