WSA vs WOT
I had WOT installed a few moths before using WSA but have noticed over the last couple of days the stark contrast between rankings. Many sites that WSA considers ok, (green tick) are the complete opposite for WOT in that they have a red dot signifying a BAD experience, my question is that "How can they be so different?" yet expect us to trust their competence. Are they signifying a completely different aspect of a site? There are a large number of 'scraper' sites out there lately just ripping info from other sites, and I personally consider these to be a waste of time as they usually proliferate the page with dodgy ads and you have to study the page carefully to get your info, picking out what is info and what is another link for an ad/malware/etc. The sooner these can be dynamically highlighted the better the internet will be for all of us.
cannot open specific web site
Using a Thinkpad 520 laptop running Windows 7 Pro (32 bit) with WebRoot antivirus I cannot open one specific web site: https://remote.viha.ca . Tried with Seamonkey, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome browsers with same result. The Seamonkey browser says it has connected with the web site but times out with a message saying the network connection was interrupted. I can however open the website using an old Thinkpad 30 running XP and AVG antivirus. I would appreciate ideas on how to fix this. -- Arthur
wasd keyboards website blocked by webroot
I'm new to the forums here so let me know if I have posted this in the wrong area. I recently installed webroot and have been pleased so far. However, I recently visited the wasd keyboards site and was surprised to see that the site was blocked by webroot. I am aware that I can simply ignore the warning and move on but I would prefer to know why it was flagged as unsafe. Is there anywhere I can go to see what has caused this site to be flagged?
runkeeper.com is being blocked by Webroot...sent email to Support
I'm unable to access the runkeeper.com site this morning as I get the Webroot warning. I did drop an email to support and asked that they investigate. Just a heads up since it's such a popular site! <<EDIT>> It's permitted again now...just checked! Thanks!
A very bad url
Hi: Yesterday I thought I went to dictionary.com. In my haste I mispelled it to dicKtionary.com...DON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE! Webroot didn't catch what happened next. It was a severe porn site and it immediately downloaded 17 virus'. But I will say this, I have GREAT faith in Webroot and when I scanned it caught all of the virus'. But the virus' did leave some setting that I will have to have removed..
Web filtering gone
I recently downgraded from Complete to Antivirus (didn't use/need the extras) by simply entering my new keycode. All went fine. Last night, I accidentally added a potentially malicious URL to the whitelist, then discovered the only way I could remedy this was by doing a reinstall. Since doing so, my Web Filtering browser extensions have disappeared, as well as the wrUrl folder, as seen in TripleHelix's post. Is this expected behaviour?
How to Use Overrides
I'm a home user, and my wireless printer (nearly 4 years old) recently stopped allowing me to print PDF files. When I run the diagnostic, the printer tells me that my firewall is blocking two essential .exe files. Can someone tell me how to instruct Webroot to allow these files? Is there something else I'm overlooking? I need to be able to download PDFs and print them from the Web, and I'm flailing around trying to solve this problem.
Did anyone notice a huge lag with WSA AV's latest build?
The first time I tried Webroot, it made my system feel as if there was no AV and I loved it! so light. The latest 2 versions released caused my system to feel so sluggish. Especially when installing a program, it would take double the time to initialize the installation. Every install of WSA was on a clean Windows 7 or 8.1 installation. It's the same system that I'm running just been running through a big delimma finding the right drivers so I formatted a lot but now finally ASUS released the official drivers for my G750JX laptop so I know i'm good. But what's up with the lag? I have just formatted, installed Windows 8.1, and I am hesistant to install WSA again
Smooth Video Project not whitelisted again
This site has an amazing tool that allows you to play videos @ 60 FPS. Makes you wanna rewatch every movie you have again just to experience the realism! I have reported it as an FP and it was whitelisted a while back Today I installed Chrome after being a long time Pale Moon user, so obviously that installed the Webroot Add-On, when I visited the site it said it is dangerous so I allowed it kindly forward this to the relevant person / department for whitelisting thank you http://www.svp-team.com/
Webroot is now Adobe XI?
Curiouser and curiouser. When running Leawo DVD Creator, the Webroot console - vanishes! Even its icon on the taskbar has vanished. Going to Start/All Programs/Webroot SecureAnywhere and clicking on the Webroot icon there (and now there's only one) the machine loads ---- Adobe Reader XI ???!! Leawo DVD Creator doesn't appear to be malware, though its active component (tiger.exe) has had its name stolen and used by a zillion pieces of malware. Still - I can't see how that would have disabled Webroot SA. Task Manager agrees with me. It says WSA is running just fine - but only under System. Have checked the shortcut for WSA - and it doesn't point to Adobe anything. Any idea what's going on? *jeep! & God Bless! --Grandpa Chet
minor annoyance under Win 7
Hello and thanks to Webroot for several years of utterly virus free computing! Thanks to MSFT's greedy enforced obsolesence, I now have a new PC and am running Win 7 Pro 64 bit.WRSA seems to work fine, but for some reason it didn't install itself to start automatically whenever the computer is turned on. I managed to get it to launch via startup, but it first generates the Win message asking for confirmation that the software can "make changes to my computer". Any thoughts what might be off here? I don't mind having to click the allow changes dialog box everytime I power up... but I am concerned that other users of the computer (once I allow some) will be afraid to click yes on that box. Thanks for reading.
PCs I install WSA AV on aren't appearing on my online account
maybe this has to do with the fact that m WSA Gamer's Edition license was canceled and I got a new license, regardless, when I install WSA AV which I did for my laptop and now my mom's laptop, after the scan and waiting for more than a day, both PCs don't show up on my online account when I go to PC security. please help
scans take longer
I scan my computer manually at boot in the morning and also at night, WR does a scheduled scan midday. It seems that in the last week the scans are taking almost twice as long. Before they were usually under 40 seconds, now they seem to last about 70 to 80 seconds. No other problems with the computer, (this isn't really a problem) I was just wondering if others have noticed this, or am I the only one.
Two days ago I started receiving bounced "Undelivered mail return to sender" messages. I am probably getting 25 to 30 per day. Since I have continually run WSA, I am guessing this is from a virus/malware that is on someone else' computer that has spoofed my (and probably others) address. Is there anything that can be done other than wait it out? Is there any way to find the source? It's probably too late, but I would like to notify the owner of the infected computer. I have googled and binged ... but can't find much info on this. TIA
WSA Gamer Edition cleaning Registry entries!
I have ensured that the cleaning of registry entries is NOT checked in the System Optimizer options but when I run it, I can see that registry streams are being cleaned! Last time it cleaned 9 entries. I don't want to touch the registry. Please I need an immediate fix or I would rather downgrade my 3 year / 3 device license back to the basic version this System Optimizer has been very buggy, starting from having a Google Chrome entry when I don't have Chrome installed to displaying the cleaning in bytes rather than Mega Bytes, and now this which is a serious glitch for me. It is more of a headache to use the System optimizer VS. using my trusted CCleaner Check this image >>> http://tinypic.com/r/206il1u/8 please help
Help - Webroot running scan after scan after
For some reason my webroot keeps poping up a new scan and re-scaanning my PC. I have 6 popups within 10 minutes even though it tells me the next scan is in 6 hours. I am running windows XP. Any help would be appreciated as it is very annoying. Thank you
LK Maintenance by Content Explorer
Not sure if thei is the proper place to post this. I have a program that installed its self on my computer. In Uninstall software in control panel it is listed as LK Maintenance and the website listed for this program is Content xplorer.net. The program hijacks my browser. When I try to book a flight on Delta it opens another travel site. When I clicked on the support link in Webroot it sent me here http://www.globaltechexpert.com/7116900/lim/webroot-support.html When I uninstall the program it will try to reinstall literally every minute until I reinstall it. Malwarebytes did not find a problem when I did a security scan. I checked Google and there is almost nothing about this out there. I am going to reload windows to get rid of it but I wanted to see what Webroot had to say.
small glitch in System Optimizer
In system optimizer, it usually lists the program you have installed, I know that for sure because the more programs I install the more programs I see listed in the optimizer cleaning options which is a nice thing but I neve have Google Chrome installed why does it list it as an option to clean?
