I spent hours trying to get iTunes reloaded after some issues with its file listings. When I went to Best Buy's GeekSquad for help, they advised my hp laptop was infected with a virus (not identified) that had scrambled my operating system (Windows 7 (x86). My data was backed up and Win7 reinstalled. When my data was returned to the laptop almost every file showed a duplicate (.old). I have spent many hours removing this excess 'chaff'. My only protection was Webroot, installed by Best Buy when I bought the laptop last May. They still love Webroot, but I'm so convinced anymore. What do you recommend as backup? Webroot is running all the time............... Suggestions are welcome. :)
i mentioned this in the wsa forum on wilders forum but thought i would put it here also. when installing wsa complete and then installing the toolbar/password manager it installs in firefox fine on the admin account(win 7 64&32) but when i go to the standard account its not in firefox?hope this gets fixed someday.
Hello @ all, I' am a new user of WSA from Germany. Please kindly advise me, how I can report a false blocked website to Webroot? In WSA Complete is a tool to send malicious files, but I can't find a way to report a false blocked websites. Thanks and best regards Dabu
I have installed WSA Essentials 2012 and have a question/concern regarding the firewall. I have set the firewall mode to "Warn if any process connects to the internet unless explicitly allowed". This seems to be working each time I open a new appliction (that needs network access) I get a popup asking if I should allow it. So far so good... However, I noticed in the popup that there is a line stating "Allowing in 60 seconds" and this counts down to 0 and then allows access. After the 60 seconds the dialog box is recreated on the screen and the countdown start again (it does this a couple of times), though after the first 60 seconds the app is granted access. This does not seem like a secure feature. If a unwated app tries to send information and I am away from the screen, it will be allowed in 60 seconds? Can anyone confirm that this is the way this works? Is there anyway to change the behavior to not allow the connection by default? Unless I am not
Hi there I was wondering if there is any way to disable or prevent WRSyncManager.exe from running? I cannot find a way, either overtly or view the 'back door', to prevent this .exe from running Now, before the storm of questions as to why I would want to do so, that it defeats the whole object of the Backup & Sync functionality, etc., please just accept that I have my own, considered reasons for asking/wanting to, and that I do not want to start a polemic surrounding the merits or not of these reasons, but rather get answers to my question so that if necessary I can lodge a formal request for the introduction of this fucntionality to be considered for addition to a future version. I , personally, think that it would be good to have such a configuration option, perhaps in Settings or a slider at the top of the Backup & Sync panel, to allow the user to disable or enable (enabled is suggested as the default) this functionality if, for some reason, they wish it. In my vie
When I install new trusted software OR update existing software, is there a way that I can pause WebRoot to make sure it doesn't interfere with the installation/upgrade process? I don't think shutting it down is a good solution. The software should have a "allow trusted software to install/update" button to insure that the software is installed/updated correctly. Please advise.... Thanks!
Just a question and I think I know the answer...my wife and both sons (college age) have internet security programs that are about to expire. I am considering WSA Complete...they basically need "set up and forget protection". They all have MBAM-Pro (real time) and I would think that combination would be enough. The wife does some banking on line, not a lot. Since I have only been using WSA Complete 2 days, and like what I see, just considering the move. Thanks in advance for any input.
Hello All! I am a technician that works on computers daily, and I have come across some issues I think are directly related to Webroot. I have noticed computers not booting to OS, and hanging at a black screen before loading user profiles. This has happened on several systems I have worked on, and the only fix that will allow them to boot is REMOVING Webroot! The only reason I believe it to be cause of Webroot, is because myself and my fellow technicians have tried every possible way to get them to boot (no hardware issues found), and 10 out of 10 computers, with removal of Webroot, then booted to OS with no issues. I like webroot, recommending it always as top antivirus and have been putting it on 8 out of 10 computers I have fixed, but I do not want to keep installing it when it causes such problems. Any insight/help would be greatly appreciated. ---------- (Title has been edited to better reflect the issue - Jim)
Going to port this over from Wilder's Security Forum perhaps Webroot Can help.. As you can see from the post I made about WSA discounted prices, I could get WSA Complete for $39.99 http://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Complete/Discount-Prices-On-Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Complete/td-p/622 I am running WSA Essentials and I like it. I do not need all the add-ons that Complete has. (Password, Android & iOS protection). I can use the extra online storage. For password protection I have been using RoboForm for the last 5 or so years. The Military Bases only sells Complete. If I bought WSA Complete can I disable the add-ons, mainly password protection so it does not interfere with RoboForm?

Thank you WEBROOT for the discount to the Military. ;)
I recently went to Scribd.com while searching for a movie script. I downloaded the free file viewer they offered and I immediately started having some problems with my laptop. I scanned my PC using the SecureAnywhere Complete and the scan came up clean. I then used the Malwarerbytes PRO and it came up with a PuP file that had been incorporated within the free file viewer I had downloaded. NOT compaining about anything, I'm just a little confused about why Webroot didn't catch it, but another program did? (Sorry, before you ask, I have already deleted the file and my computer is back to normal. So, I can't provide any file names for you. However, if you want to research it, that is why I gave you the site name and the product I downloaded.)

One of the strengths of a forum is that answers to questions don't go to one person. When a question is answered, the answer is there for all to see. The Search box at the upper right might just find your answer for you, so take a look at it if you have a question. This post will be updated with various Common Topics as a quick source of immediate information. Turning the app off Some people have expressed concern over the icon in the notification bar, or slowing down their device, or consuming battery. So let's address all three of these... Because it is a security application, it would not be very effective if it were just turned off. So we don't let it turn off. If you do not wish to see the icon in the notification bar, you can go into the app, to the main screen, and press the menu button on the device. Tap the "General Settings" menu, then uncheck the only item: Persistent status. This will remove the status icon from the notification bar and only alert you w
As long as you have the latest version of SecureAnywhere installed, the Webroot Toolbar is fully compatible with Firefox 9 and above. If you still do not see the Webroot Toolbar in Firefox there are steps you can take to restore the toolbar.
