Greetings! Installed the trial version of Webroot to my PC (Windows 7) last night to replace Norton product. Didn't do anything on computer last night after the install - just shut it down. This morning, when typing an AOL email, the letters keyed are not the letters showing in the email. Also happens on all websites except the original window (Google) that opens when browser is opened. Any subsequent window that is opened (even another Google window) has the same problem. What gives? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Been used to webroot security extension giving me green, brown and sometimes red when I google an item Today I googled my local YMCA a site I've used many times. Security extension didn't give ma color but rather the word null in front of the site. I have no idea what this means and it looks like security extenison is malfunctioning. I also googled a term I had used a day or two ago with no problem and some of the sites that I had used again have the word null in front of them. Puzzzled
If I were to have all of the WEbroot shields on, plus the Webroot firewall and the firewall on the computer could that conceivably be enough protecton even if on unprotected wireless network? Best settings to use for internet in Webroot to provide maximum protection?
Temporarily I am running my Windows 7 in my daughter's PC since her hard drive is shot and this allows me to rescue my genealogy from my disabled PC. Mission accomplished. But at first we thought the illegal message was a scam. Will running like this cause me problems? I will replace my PC after taxes.
Hi, I'm using Windows and Webroot for the first time, and I'm having a deeply frustrating experience trying to install (and then run) gnucash accounting software. I finally figured out that I could get it installed by turning everything off in webroot, but then on the initial execution of gnucash, webroot sees something it doesn't like and removes the .exe file altogether, despite the fact that I have whitelisted the very .exe file itself in webroot settings. Can anybody help with this? Fortunately, this is a free subscription to webroot, so at the very least I can just scrap it. Thanks, Sean
Has anyone out there gotten Cisco's QuickVPN utility to work on a PC running webroot? QuickVPN is Cisco's IPSec VPN client for Cisco routers. Seems Webroot is interfering with QuickVPN working. Webroot seems to allow connections to Cisco routers using the Windows built in PPTP client, but that is known to be insecure. (PPTP is considered cryptographically broken and its use is no longer recommended by Microsoft.) Anyway, I'm not able to get QuickVPN working on the machines with Webroot, and since Webroot changed interfaces a few months back, it seems access to a lot of the controls of the earlier versions are missing.
Hi, Ever since I got the new Web Threat Shield a couple of weeks ago, Firefox browser stops responding when opening multiple tabs. If I open more than two tabs( not at a time btut one after another ) Firefox freezes. Then after a certain amount of time it starts responding. The time varies as more time for more tabs. And most of the time Firefox does not say it's not responding but clicking on anything does not work. I've reinstalled, clean installed WSA. I've reinstalled Firefox. I've even clean installed the OS. But to no avail. I would have gone straight to support ticket system but thought others may have the same problem.

So on 12/22 my laptop got infected with some sort of adware/malware. I made sure webroot was up to date and ran a deep scan and it finds nothing. I'm running Mozilla Firefox & Windows Vista. I've deleted all of my cookies and tried restoring my computer. Sites that I have never had an issue with in years are now producing popups, ads, & redirects. I've tried running the free versions of ESET, AVG, Malwarebytes, & Ad aware with no success. Where do I go from here?
I am trying to get my favorite game working on a new computer. When I bought this computer, I decided to try webroot because I had heard good things and I had heard that it would still work together with Nortons. Long story short, webroot will not allow me to play my game and I had to turn it off just to get it downloaded. I had hoped that once downloaded I could safely play it, but now WR has snagged my .exe for the game. I need to restore my .exe and get WR to allow the game or WR has to go. I have read some of the other posts with the same complaints, but the places indicated to make the exceptions do not seem to exist on my veersion. I accept that I am most likely doing something wrong and not getting where I need to go so I am asking for help. Thanks.

Googled "excel vba how to replace part of a string" and was enticed by a "Re: How to replace ampersand charater..." thread. While I normally use the google cache for certain sites and unknown sites, I became sloppy due to the big Green Circle with White Checkmark. Webroot then popped up a "This website has been reported as unsafe" which read as follows ========================================= <URL> We recommend that you don't continue to this website because it has been reported to contain the following threats: Suspicious threat: This is a suspicious site. There is a higher than average probability that you will be exposed to maliciious links or payloads. ========================================= Now, the link in Google has an exclamation instead of checkmark. Am I correct in thinking the "green checkmark" simply meant the page itself was either safe or not previously reported but the next popup either determined the page was
Hello all, This is my first post so thank you in advance for your time. Bought webroot with my new laptop... having a lot of trouble finding this "25 gigs of storage" that Webroot came with. In the main panel of webroot, under Backup & Sync, it only gives me the option to "Learn More" and prompts me to buy subscription time on top of my 3 year subscription... Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, You're my only hope!
I posted this question on Wilders a short while ago but figured knowledge is power so here goes... Thus far, on my XP Pro SP3 system Webroot and Sandboxie seem to coexist very well. I am able to verify that the AV detects potential bad sites, and also detects and quarantines the Eicar test file download before the file is recovered via Sandboxie to the download folder. My question is whether Identity Shield is functional within a Firefox browser supervised by Sandboxie? (I do show the padlock.) I only ask because I haven't come across a recent or definitive answer. If they aren't compatible then I suppose it would make more sense to conduct financial transactions outside of a Sandboxie supervised browser. Any info appreciated and thanks in advance.
:@ Hi Peeps! I have your Webroot SA Antivirus but have been getting a lot of Application Error pop-ups over the last day or so, these say: iexplore.exe Application Error the instruction at 0x03110f22 referenced memory at ox00000001. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to close the programme. Some are slightly different. I've also just had a notice from Microsoft about their Malicious Software Removal Tool Dec 13 and after visiting their web page, to find if it was one of theirs, ran it, which has detected and partially removed 'Win32/Rotbrow'. Shouldn't the Antivirus have been pointing these out and removed them? Can you tell me what they are and what I can do to stop them and fix the problem? I ran S. A . Antivirus after each pop-up but nothing was detected so whats going on? Would it pick these up or is it something I have to manually sort out?
As the owner of this site, I know it is clean. This started a week or two ago and site traffic seems to have dropped since then. I have also been getting quite a number of false positives for other sites that I know are safe and virus free. A large number of false positives means the protection the software should provide becomes useless as it can't be trusted. Interested in how many other people are finding this a problem, and whether it is affecting their site traffic like it seems to be mine.
One of the forums I have been using for a decade recently switched their for sale section to Panjo Marketplace. Webroot kicks this site out as bad news. A search here shows nothing under this title and I found nothing with a general web search. any ideas?
